The Luma Concept Hotel (also known as the Heeton Concept Hotel – Luma Hammersmith) is a design-focused hotel that is a relatively affordable accommodation option considering its close proximity to Central London.
The hotel is operated by Heeton, a property development company that operates hotel franchises for large international hotel brands including Crowne Plaza, Hampton by Hilton, Holiday Inn Express and ibis. The Luma Concept Hotel is the company’s first foray into its own branded hotel.
The hotel has 89 guest rooms, which are all air-conditioned with comfortable beds, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. The larger rooms also have a work desk and a small fridge.
Although the rooms are compact, they are well designed to make the most of their limited space. Rooms start at 13m² (140 sq ft) for the ‘light’ rooms, standard rooms are 18m² (194 sq ft) and deluxe rooms range in size from 18m² (194 sq ft) to 25m² (269 sq ft).
The hotel is clean and well maintained (it was only opened in 2017) and it is themed on the Osram lightbulb factory that dominated the local neighbourhood in the late 19th century.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
This hotel is strictly a place to sleep. There is no on-site bar or restaurant, nor are there any business facilities such as meeting rooms. However, it has a great location in the centre of Hammersmith with plenty of places to eat and drink on your doorstep.
Hammersmith is a major commercial centre with easy access to Central London. It is quite a good place to stay as it is close enough to the centre of London to not feel suburban but far enough out to still be relatively affordable. The area is quite built up with office blocks, a couple of theatres (including the Lyric and Apollo) and plenty of shopping options. There is also a big Westfield shopping centre around a 20-minute walk north of here in Shepherds Bush.
Hammersmith tube station is served by the Circle, District, Hammersmith and City and Piccadilly lines. The station is in zone two and there are trains every few minutes into central London. From here it is 16 minutes by tube to Piccadilly Circus and only eight minutes to South Kensington. It is also possible to walk to Kensington in just half an hour, although it is around a one-hour walk to the South Kensington museums.
The Piccadilly line also goes to Heathrow Airport making this hotel a good option if you’re flying in or out of Heathrow. It takes just over half an hour to get out to Heathrow by tube and the late-night bus route N9 can take you to the airport in around 45 minutes.
Note that Hammersmith station is split into two parts: one part is served by the Circle and the Hammersmith and City lines and the other has the District and Piccadilly lines. Both parts of the station are only a one-minute walk apart but you have to exit one part and then cross the road before entering the other part of the station.
Depending on when you book, the Luma Concept Hotel can often represent good value for money considering the location and standard of accommodation.
