The Red Lion is a large red brick building dating from the 1730s. It is primarily a pub that offers accommodation in five rooms upstairs.
Like most buildings in Lacock, it is owned by the National Trust but the bar and accommodation is operated by Wadworth (who also run The George Inn just around the corner on West Street).
There are only five guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a flat-screen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. The hotel rooms have a traditional-style decor in keeping with the village’s heritage but with neutral colours.
The Red Lion is primarily a local pub that just happens to also offer accommodation upstairs and as such the focus is on the pub downstairs. The pub is a popular place for locals and visitors to go out for a drink. It serves a good selection of food and drink including Wadworth’s ales plus Thatcher’s and Weston’s ciders and it does a great Sunday roast.
Its close proximity to the entrance to Lacock Abbey means that it is a popular spot for visitors to Lacock to stop for lunch and a drink or two.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel including the pub downstairs.
The Red Lion is located in the centre of Lacock across the road from the National Trust shop and just a one-minute walk from the entrance to Lacock Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum. Most other points of interest in the village are no more than a two- to three-minute walk away.
