The Rodney Hotel is a small hotel in Clifton Village that appeals to those travellers who prefer to avoid big chain hotels.
It is a small hotel with only 31 guest rooms, which include single, double and twin rooms. All rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk, a television, a minibar and tea and coffee making facilities.
It is a charming place to stay with a cosy atmosphere that you simply won’t find in a big sterile chain hotel; however, many of the hotel rooms are very small and some guests complain that the hotel can feel somewhat tired.
As is common with many small independent hotels, the rooms are not air-conditioned and there is no lift, which may be an issue if you have trouble climbing stairs.
The hotel also has its own restaurant and a small bar with its own private walled garden.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is in Clifton Village, which is probably Bristol’s nicest suburban shopping area and there is a large choice of places to eat and drink within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. In addition to pottering around Clifton Village, Clifton has several of its own attractions including the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Clifton Observatory, which are both less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
The number 8 bus operates a regular service into the city centre. The bus stops on Clifton Down Road right outside the hotel. If you’re driving, there is limited car parking available and this costs £8 per night.
