The Royal Albion Hotel in Broadstairs is a centrally-located accommodation option in a Georgian-era building that offers more character than your average hotel.
It was built in 1776 and initially operated as a private residence before being transformed into a hotel to cater to the growing number of visitors drawn to Broadstairs’ picturesque seaside.
Over the years, the Royal Albion Hotel has played host to various notable guests, including Charles Dickens. The hotel’s historical significance is further enhanced by its prominent location overlooking Viking Bay, one of the most iconic stretches of coastline in the area.
The 21 guest rooms all have comfortable beds with Simba mattresses, a work desk, a flatscreen television, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Rooms range from compact single rooms, to double and twin rooms (with either town or sea views) and spacious family rooms.Rooms have a traditional decor that highlights the historic nature of the hotel but this is done tastefully without making it feel dated.
The hotel is run by brewer and pub operator, Shepherd Neame, which means that the bar downstairs is a big part of the business. The pub is a cosy spot for a drink and it also boasts a dining area with lovely sea views.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The Royal Albion has an excellent location in the heart of Broadstairs. It is only a one-minute walk to the Dickens House Museum and most other points of interest in the town centre are no more than a five minute walk away.
