The Royal Hotel

The Royal Hotel was originally built as a private residence and converted into a hotel in the late 18th century, and it is believed that Lord Nelson was a regular at the hotel’s bar. Although the pub downstairs, part of the Shepherd Neame pub and brewery business, is the main focus of the business, there are also 18 well-appointed rooms upstairs.

All the rooms feature comfortable beds, a flatscreen television, tea and coffee making facilities, and en suite bathrooms. Rooms start with compact single rooms, although most of the rooms consist of considerably more spacious double, twin and family rooms.

As you would expect for a hotel operated by its brewery and pubs, the bar and dining area of the Royal Hotel is a major focus of the business. The pub includes the Boathouse Bar and Terrace, which has a large terrace facing the English Channel that is a lovely spot for a drink on a sunny day. The hotel’s restaurant offers a range of delicious dishes, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The standard of food here is a step up from your average pub grub, although the prices are also higher than your average pub meal.

The Royal Hotel has a great location right on the seafront in Deal with lovely views of the English Channel. It is also close to the centre of Deal with most points of interest, including Deal Castle and the railway station, no more than a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
