SEA LIFE Manchester

From £18.50 To £28

The SEA LIFE Manchester aquarium is one of many aquariums located throughout England. It seems to be aimed mainly at locals looking for a place to take their kids and its inconvenient suburban location combined with the fact that there are almost 10 other SEA LIFE aquariums in England to choose from means that most tourists give this place a miss.

What to see at SEA LIFE Manchester

The aquarium lets you see a large range of marine life including turtles, jellyfish, seahorses, sharks and stingrays. There is a programme of talks where you can learn more about marine life as well as scheduled feeding times that are a big hit with kids.

SEA LIFE is geared towards children aged 3–10 years old, which is great if you’re visiting with young children. However, this means that some of the displays may seem a little dumbed down for adults with a keen interest in marine biology.

England is home to around 10% of the world’s aquariums and it seems like every large town or city has one. This coupled with the fact that there are 10 SEA LIFE Centres in England means that there is nothing particularly unique about this place. Our recommendation is to give this place a miss unless you’re travelling with kids who really, really want to see some fish.

Visiting SEA LIFE Manchester

SEA LIFE Manchester is located near the Trafford Centre shopping centre in suburban Trafford around 8km (5 miles) west of Manchester city centre. Local bus routes 250 and X50 run regularly into central Manchester, although it is easiest to take the tram to Barton Dock Road (the stop before the Trafford Centre).

There are several VIP experiences available for an additional charge. These include ray, shark and turtle feeding experiences.

The aquarium is busiest on weekends and during school holidays, particularly between 11am and 3pm.

It takes most people 1½–2 hours to properly see everything at SEA LIFE Manchester.
