Tower Hotel

The Tower Hotel is a large four-star hotel on the northern bank of the River Thames close to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

The large hotel, built in the 1970s, is not a particularly attractive building and it has been voted twice (in 2005 and again in 2006) as London’s second-ugliest building. However, if you’re staying here, then it doesn’t really matter how ugly the building is as you’ll be inside the building and looking out at one of London’s best views.

The Tower Hotel was voted London’s second-ugliest building in a 2005 Time Out poll and again in 2006 in a BBC poll. The Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre was deemed the ugliest building in 2005 and in 2006 The Tower at Colliers Wood was considered London’s most hated building. The hotel’s 801 rooms all have comfortable Hypnos beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom. Executive rooms and suites also have bathrobes and an espresso machine.

The hotel is starting to feel a bit worn around the edges and the decor is a bit dated; however, many people overlook this for the iconic view of Tower Bridge.

The hotel restaurant (Vicinity) offers casual dining options and a large outdoor terrace with breathtaking views of Tower Bridge. Afternoon tea is served daily at Vicinity, although there are plenty of other places in London that offer a better value afternoon tea.

There is a business centre on the ground floor and there is also a fitness centre that guests can use.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The hotel is located on the northern bank of the River Thames at St Katharine Docks Marina, which is home to several places to eat and drink. It is also right next to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London (although the entrance to The Tower is a five-minute walk away) and many points of interest within The City and Southbank are also within walking distance.
