Travelodge Amesbury Stonehenge

The Travelodge Amesbury Stonehenge hotel is one of the better value accommodation options within easy reach of Stonehenge and it is a particularly good option if you’re travelling by car.

Rooms at the Travelodge Amesbury Stonehenge ar a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom.

There are also some wheelchair-accessible double/twin rooms available.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods, although in most cases, this hotel is the cheapest accommodation option close to Stonehenge.

It is a brick building at the Countess Services just off the A303 but it is also within walking distance to the centre of Amesbury so you’re not cut off from civilisation like you normally would be if you were staying in a motorway service area.

The immediate area has a Burger King and a Shell petrol station but you can walk into the centre of Amesbury in just a little over 10 minutes, where you can find a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is the closest hotel to Woodhenge, which is only a 17-minute walk away.

The location next to a busy road means that some guests complain of traffic noise so you may want to take this into account (or bring earplugs) if you’re a light sleeper.

The Activ8 and X5 bus routes stop on Countess Road, just a two-minute walk from the hotel. Both routes go to Salisbury with the Active8 continuing east towards Andover and the X5 continuing northwards to Marlborough and Swindon. There is no direct access to Stonehenge by bus (the only direct bus route to Stonehenge departs from Salisbury) but you can drive to Stonehenge in under 10 minutes.

It is a great option if you’re driving with easy road access, a petrol station next door and 48 free car parking spaces.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
