The Travelodge London Bethnal Green hotel is an affordable accommodation option in Bethnal Green in East London, which is just one stop away from The City on the Central line.
Travelodge London Bethnal Green has recently been updated to feature Travelodge’s new interior design, which makes this hotel a step above the average Travelodge.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Bethnal Green are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.
In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are much bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.
There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant, although there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.
Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. Although this hotel has excellent transport connections, its location just outside central London means that it is generally cheaper to stay here than more centrally-located hotels.
Bethnal Green is a district in the East End not far from Shoreditch and the City that has some nice parks and very good transport connections into central London. The hotel is only a five-minute walk from the Young V&A.
Bethnal Green tube station (on the Central line) is just a three-minute walk from the hotel and Bethnal Green railway station is a five-minute walk. Both stations are in zone two. The railway station has Overground trains to London Liverpool Street but the tube station is a more useful option because it is closer to the hotel and has more frequent trains and also because the trains continue beyond Liverpool Street with stops through central London.
Bethnal Green tube station has frequent services with 24 trains per hour (one every 2½ minutes). The journey time to Liverpool Street is only three minutes. It takes five minutes to get to Bank and Oxford Circus is a 13-minute ride away.
A slower but more scenic way to get into central London is on bus route 8, which goes into the City via Shoreditch (London’s most hipster neighbourhood).
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
