Travelodge London Central Aldgate East

The Travelodge London Central Aldgate East hotel is one of the cheaper hotels in central London. It is located at the eastern edge of the City, just a short walk from the Tower of London, St Katharine Docks and Tower Bridge.

Rooms at the Travelodge London Central Aldgate East are a mix of single, double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant, although there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.

The back of the hotel overlooks a busy railway line with trains in and out of Fenchurch Street station passing right by the back of the hotel. Light sleepers may want to ask for a room at the front of the hotel or find a different place altogether.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods; however, it is one of the cheaper hotels in central London.

This Travelodge is located between Aldgate and St Katherines Dock. Although it is wedged between a narrow street and a railway line, you only need to walk up the street to find plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. There are also several attractions nearby with All Hallows-by-the-Tower, Brick Lane, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London all within a 10-minute walk.

The closest tube station is Aldgate East (District and Hammersmith & City lines), which is just a five-minute walk from the hotel. The station is in zone one and has 15 trains per hour on the District line and 12 trains per hour on the Hammersmith & City line. The journey time into Westminster is 13 minutes and it only takes four minutes to get to Monument.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
