Travelodge London Central Tower Bridge

The Travelodge London Central Tower Bridge hotel is one of the better value hotels in central London. It is very close to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London and within walking distance to most points of interest in the City.

All the rooms at the Travelodge London Central Tower Bridge are double rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

This hotel has been recently renovated with Travelodge’s new room design, which means that this hotel offers a superior standard of accommodation when compared with most other Travelodge hotels.

There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.

In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine. In many cases, SuperRooms are a big step up from a standard room at a Travelodge, although the new design of standard rooms at this hotel means that the difference is less noticeable here.

This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant, although there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. It is one of the better value hotels in central London.

The hotel is at the eastern edge of the City of London and it is within walking distance to most points of interest in London’s financial district. The City is also London’s oldest area and it has many historic attractions including some dating back to Roman times. Nearby attractions include the Gherkin, Leadenhall Market, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, all located within a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

This Travelodge is also close to lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs; however, being in the financial district, some of these close on weekends.

A short walk in the opposite direction takes you into the heart of the East End with the East End neighbourhoods of Shadwell and Whitechapel only a 10 to 15-minute walk from the hotel.

Like the nearby Travelodge London Central Aldgate East hotel, this Travelodge also backs onto the railway lines approaching Fenchurch Street station and rooms facing the railway lines can suffer from some noise from passing trains. However, this hotel’s location is nicer than the other Travelodge and it is also a little bit more central.

It is right next to Tower Gateway DLR station (although it is a two-minute walk to the station entrance) and a five-minute walk to Tower Hill tube station (on the Circle and District lines) and six-minutes to Aldgate tube station (on the Circle and Metropolitan lines). All three stations are in zone one. It is also a seven-minute walk to Fenchurch Street railway station.

Tower Hill station has 15 trains per hour on the District line and Aldgate station has 12 trains per hour on the Metropolitan line. Both stations have six trains per hour in each direction on the Circle line. From Tower Hill, it is a 10-minute ride to Westminster and from Aldgate, you can get to Kings Cross St Pancras station in 10 minutes.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
