In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.

There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.

This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant and there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.

The Travelodge London Central Waterloo has recently been renovated and it is much nicer than older hotels in the Travelodge chain. It is also what Travelodge call a Travelodge PLUS hotel, which is a step up from the average Travelodge in terms of style and comfort. Rooms and furnishings (even in standard rooms) are nicer than most other Travelodge hotels and the bar and restaurant area is a much nicer place to relax than what you find at other hotels in this price range.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. Although a tad more expensive than other Travelodge hotels, it is one of the better value hotels in central London and it is a particularly good deal considering that it has recently been renovated.

Although the immediate vicinity of the hotel is not the most vibrant neighbourhood when compared to other areas in central London, there are plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby.

This Travelodge is on Waterloo Road, around an eight-minute walk southeast of Waterloo railway station and it is around a 20-minute walk to Charing Cross. The attractions of Southbank are within walking distance. These include the National Theatre (a 12-minute walk), Oxo Tower Wharf (14 minutes), the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre (both a 17-minute walk). The cluster of attractions near Westminster Bridge is also nearby and these attractions include the Florence Nightingale Museum (a 13-minute walk) as well as the London SEALIFE aquarium, the London Dungeon and the Coca-Cola London Eye (all around a 15-minute walk from the hotel).

This hotel is a short walk from three different tube stations: Southwark (on the Jubilee line), Lambeth North (Bakerloo line) and Waterloo (Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern and Waterloo & City lines). Southwark tube station is six minutes from the hotel, Lambeth North is a seven-minute walk and Waterloo is eight minutes away. From Waterloo, you can get to Oxford Circus in six minutes and the ride to Bank takes only four minutes.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
