Travelodge London Hackney

The Travelodge London Hackney hotel is an affordable accommodation option in Hackney in East London. It is in a vibrant neighbourhood with good transport connections into central London and a recent renovation has made this one of London’s better Travelodge hotels.

The Travelodge London Hackney has recently been updated to feature Travelodge’s new interior design, which makes this hotel a step above the average Travelodge.

Rooms at the Travelodge London Hackney are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods.

Although historically a working-class neighbourhood, Hackney has recently become somewhat fashionable with lots of interesting shops, cafes, bars and restaurants side-by-side with more traditionally East End shops like Greggs and Iceland. It is a vibrant neighbourhood that is a fun place to stay and it has good transport connections into central London.

The hotel is only a one-minute walk from Hackney Central station, which has Overground trains stopping here en route between Stratford and Richmond or Clapham Junction. Although this line is handy if you want to visit Camden Town or Stratford, it is not particularly practical as it does not have trains going into central London. Fortunately, it is only a short walk to Hackney Downs station (just a six-minute walk from the hotel) which is much more useful as it has trains into The City rather than to other suburbs. From Hackney Downs, there are 10 trains per hour to London Liverpool Street railway station and the journey only takes around 10 minutes. Both Hackney Central and Hackney Downs stations are in zone two.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
