The Travelodge London Whetstone hotel is a good value place to stay in a residential area in London’s northern suburbs. It is around a 10-minute walk to tube and train stations and from there you can be in central London in around half an hour.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Whetstone are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.
There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant but there are also plenty of places to eat nearby.
Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods although in most cases this hotel is a cheaper alternative to more centrally-located hotels.
This hotel is in Whetstone in London’s northern suburbs. It is close to local shops with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs within a five-minute walk and Totteridge and Whetstone tube station is a 10-minute walk away and Oakridge Park railway station isn’t much farther. Both stations are in zone four.
From Totteridge and Whetstone tube station (on the High Barnett branch of the Northern line) there are trains into central London every three to six minutes. The journey time into central London is around half an hour.
Oakleigh Park railway station has three trains per hour to Moorgate with additional trains to Kings Cross during peak hour. The journey time to Moorgate is just under half an hour.
Most people find it easier to take the tube into central London. The tube station is a few minutes closer to the hotel than the railway station, services are more frequent and it has more convenient stops in central London; however, trains from Oakleigh Park are more comfortable and are handy if you need to get to Moorgate or Arsenal Football Stadium (the train stops at Drayton Park, which is just a few minutes walk from the stadium).
There is limited free parking at this hotel (only 11 spaces) making it a good option if you’re touring by car but don’t want to drive (and park) in central London. There is free street parking in the evening if all the hotel’s car parking spaces have been taken but you need to pay up to £4.50 per day (less on weekends) to park locally during the day.
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
