Travelodge Winnersh Triangle

The Travelodge Winnersh Triangle hotel is a budget hotel near the Winnersh Triangle office park on the eastern edge of Reading.

Standard double rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower. There is no air-conditioning, which may be an issue if you’re staying here during summer.

In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.

Other hotel facilities include a bar/restaurant where you can get a buffet-style breakfast in the morning and a cold beer in the evening.

This particular hotel appears to be newer and better maintained than the other Travelodge hotels in Reading.

Unlike most other hotels in Reading, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be much more expensive staying here during peak periods.

The Travelodge is in the Winnersh Triangle office park at the end of the A329 (M) motorway around 6.8km (4¼ miles) east of Reading town centre. Although a large number of office buildings indicate that a lot of people must work near the hotel, it is difficult to see what all these people do for fun as there doesn’t seem to be much of interest (like cafes, restaurants and pubs) in the immediate vicinity. On a positive note, the Winnersh Triangle area has excellent public transport connections with its own train station and frequent buses (Reading Buses route 500) into Reading town centre.

There is free on-site parking at this hotel and easy access to the motorway network making it a great option if you’re driving.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
