Tune Hotel

Liverpool’s Tune Hotel is a very good value place to stay right in the heart of the city centre.

At around 15m² (161 sq ft), the rooms are small but they have all you need for a night in the city. The 100 hotel rooms are air-conditioned and all have comfortable Hypnos beds plus a small work desk, a flat-screen television and an en suite bathroom. There are no in-room tea and coffee making facilities at this hotel but the inclusion of air-conditioning and a work desk is a bonus for a hotel in this price range.

There are no public areas in the hotel apart from the 24-hour reception desk, where you can buy tea or coffee. However, this isn’t a huge issue as the hotel has a brilliant location right in the heart of the city centre and there are plenty of places nearby where you can go for something to eat or drink.

Tune Hotels are primarily located in Malaysia and this is the chain’s only UK property. There used to be more Tune Hotels in the UK, primarily in London, but most of these have been sold off to the Point A Hotels chain.

The Tune Hotels chain is run by the same people who founded the Malaysian budget airline, Air Asia. Tune Hotels are similar to easyHotel (run by another budget airline, easyJet) offering no-frills accommodation at a low price with extra charges for add-on features although Tune does tend to include more in the basic room rate when compared with easyHotel.

The hotel is on Castle Street in the city centre, just up the road from its main competitor easyHotel. It is only a five-minute walk to Mathew Street (where you can find the Cavern Club and the Magical Beatles Museum), Liverpool One shopping centre, the Liverpool waterfront (with the British Music Experience and the Royal Liver Building) and the Western Approaches Museum. Most other attractions in Liverpool, including the sights around Albert Dock, are no more than a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

The Tune Hotel is well served by public transport. It is around midway between James Street and Moorfields stations (both are a four-minute walk away) and it is a 10-minute walk to both Lime Street railway station and Liverpool One bus station.
