The Westbridge Hotel is an independent hotel in Stratford in East London. It is often a good value accommodation option when compared to more centrally located hotels.
Although the hotel doesn’t look like much from the street, it is much nicer when you get inside.
The hotel has 80 guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities (no ironing board in the single room), a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom.
Single rooms are just 12m² (129 sq ft), double rooms are 17–18m² (183–193 sq ft), twin rooms are 18m² (193 sq ft) and the heritage rooms range from 16m² (172 sq ft) to 23m² (247 sq ft).
There are two interior design themes within the hotel. The modern rooms are tastefully decorated with a white and brown colour scheme but the heritage rooms certainly won’t appeal to everyone and some of them are downright hideous. The heritage rooms are generally the hotel’s more expensive rooms so you should be safe if you book one of the cheapest rooms.
The hotel has a nice guest lounge plus a restaurant on site. As it is a halal hotel, the on-site restaurant serves halal meals and there is no bar. It also means that alcohol and pork products are prohibited elsewhere in the hotel so it may not be your best option if you like to relax with a beer and a pack of pork scratchings after a busy day sightseeing.
There is also a 24-hour gym on-site that all guests have access to.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is in Stratford, which is a major suburban centre in East London that has two major shopping centres as well as plenty of places to eat and drink. However, the two best features of staying in Stratford are:
- It’s not in Central London, which means that it is much cheaper to stay here, and
- It has excellent transport connections to Central London, which means that you can be in The City in just 10 minutes with almost one train going into Central London every minute.
It is just a couple of doors from Stratford High Street DLR station and around a seven-minute walk from Stratford station, which is a busy hub for DLR, Overground, Underground, the Elizabeth line, suburban and regional trains. There are tube trains every two minutes into Central London on the Central and Jubilee lines and there are 13 trains per hour direct to Liverpool Street station.
Stratford is also well situated if you need to get to some of London’s smaller airports with a direct DLR link to London City Airport, direct trains to Southend Airport and National Express coaches to Stansted Airport.
