The Wilde Aparthotel by Staycity on the Strand is a stylish apartment hotel with a brilliant location on the Strand that is just a five-minute walk from Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross station and Covent Garden. It is the perfect spot if you’re looking to stay somewhere central with a quirky personality.
The Wilde Aparthotel by Staycity has 106 rooms in a modern eight-storey building on the Strand. They range from compact double rooms (just 14–15m²) to studio apartments (16–22m²).
The double rooms are more like a traditional hotel room and the studio apartments are open-plan spaces with more facilities. All apartments have flatscreen televisions, sofas and a small kitchen and a dining area.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave and a stove top but it doesn’t have a proper oven so you can’t make pizza or bake a cake. Kitchen appliances are high-quality with Smeg toasters and kettles, Bosch microwaves and a Fisher and Paykel dishwasher. All rooms and apartments come with Nespresso coffee machines.
Rooms and apartments also come with an iron and ironing board and they are all air-conditioned and there is free Wi-Fi wireless internet access in all rooms and common areas.
Rooms in the basement don’t have windows and are slightly smaller than the rooms and apartments upstairs. These are marketed as Sleep Zone rooms and studios as they are much quieter than the rooms upstairs but of course, you miss out on a lovely view of the Strand.
A couple of the studio apartments are wheelchair accessible.
With spaces ranging from 14m² to 22m², the rooms and apartments at Wilde are smaller than the average apartment hotel but they are well designed so they feel bigger than they actually are. Considering the central location, it is hard to get better than this for the price you pay.
Wilde is the trendier, more design-focused, brand of the Staycity Aparthotel chain. It has more character than your regular apartment hotel with lots of interesting books and knick-knacks that give the place a quirky personality but don’t go as far as making it feel cluttered.
It’s like staying at your stylish uncle’s pad when he’s out of town. The stylish uncle who works at the Design Museum and nicks stuff from work to decorate his flat.
This is one of London’s most centrally located accommodation options. It is on the Strand within a five-minute walk of Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. There are loads of places to eat and drink of your doorstep and nearby attractions include Covent Garden Piazza, the London Transport Museum, the Courtauld Gallery, Benjamin Franklin House, St Martin-in-the-Fields, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery, which are all a five-minute walk away.
It is only a three-minute walk to Charing Cross railway station and the closest tube stations are Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines) and Embankment (Bakerloo, Circle, District and Northern lines). From Charing Cross, it is only four minutes to Oxford Circus.
In addition to the tube, there are 26 local bus routes that stop outside including routes 6, 9, 11, 12, 15, 88, 91 and 139 and you would normally not need to wait longer than a few minutes for a bus to most places in central London.
