Windermere is well served by buses to all parts of the Lake District including bus 555, which stops here en route between Lancaster and Keswick with stops in Ambleside, Grasmere and Kendal; bus 508 to Penrith via Patterdale and Ullswater; and bus 599 that runs between Windermere and Grasmere via Ambleside. Buses 6, 508, 596 and 755 runs between the centre of Windermere and Bowness on the lake.
The North West Megarider Gold is a good value pass that costs £28.50 and gives you seven days unlimited travel on Stagecoach buses throughout Cumbria and Lancashire and also includes some buses going as far afield as Chester, Liverpool and Newcastle upon Tyne.
Buses and coaches stop outside the train station and Booths supermarket in Windermere town centre.
