British Museum

The British Museum is one of the world’s great museums. It is the most-visited museum in the United Kingdom and its exhibits chronicle the story of the western world through an unmatched collection of antiques and displays that include the Elgin Marbles, the Rosetta Stone, the Iron Age Lindow Man and numerous Egyptian mummies and sarcophagi.
London Eye
10.00 am - 8.30 pm
The 135m (443 ft)-high London Eye is a huge ferris wheel that was the world’s tallest when opened in 1999. Each of the 32 10-tonne air-conditioned capsules holds 25 people and unlike other ferris wheels, you are able to stand up and walk around, rather than stay seated for the duration of the rotation.
Thackray Museum of Medicine

The excellent Thackray Museum of Medicine (formerly the Thackray Medical Museum) in Leeds has interesting displays focusing on the history of medicine. The museum is housed in the former Leeds Union Workhouse, which was built in 1858 and has been primarily a medical facility for the poor before becoming the East Leeds War Hospital during the First World War.
National Science and Media Museum
10.00 am - 5.00 pm
The National Science and Media Museum, formerly the National Media Museum (and before that, the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television), is Bradford’s top attraction. It has seven floors of galleries with a focus on the history, culture and the underlying science of photography, film and television.
Bolling Hall
11.00 am - 4.00 pm
Bolling Hall is one of Bradford’s oldest buildings, with much of the current building dating from the 14th century. The manor house was originally the seat of the Bolling and then the Tempests, two important land-owning families in the days when Bradford was just a small town.
Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Park
10.00 am - 4.30 pm
This impressive Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Park World Heritage Site near Ripon encompasses an Elizabethan mansion, St Mary’s church and the remains of Britain’s largest Cistercian abbey, which was founded by Cistercian monks in the 12th century. It also features Studley Royal Park, an 18th-century landscaped park that covers 323ha (800 acres) and is home to over 300 deer.
Old Sarum
10.00 am - 4.00 pm
Old Sarum is the site of the earliest settlement in the Salisbury area. It dates from the Iron Age and has been inhabited by the Romans, Saxons and Normans. The site is not far from Salisbury and it consists of the ruins of a castle and cathedral that were built shortly after the Norman conquest.
Wells Cathedral
7.00 am - 6.00 pm
Wells Cathedral was built between 1175 and 1490, although an abbey church has been on the site since as early as 705. The cathedral has been the seat of the Bishop of Bath and Wells since the 13th century and for this reason, Wells has played a much greater role in history than most other places of a similar size.
