The Antrobus Hotel (formerly known as the Antrobus Arms Hotel) is a 17th-century coaching inn in Amesbury town centre that is famous as the place where the Beatles stayed when filming Help on Salisbury Plain.
It is a small hotel with only 19 guest rooms, which are comprised of double, twin and family rooms. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.
The hotel has a bar and a Thai restaurant and there is a nice garden area that is sometimes used for weddings. These areas are probably the best aspect of the hotel.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
It was originally built in the 17th century as a coaching inn and the Beatles famously stayed here in May 1965 while filming Help on the Salisbury Plain. The hotel was also used as a filming location for a BBC Miss Marple mystery.
Sadly, the hotel has seen better days and it is now in relatively poor condition and there are better alternative accommodation options in Amesbury. This is a shame as it is in a good location in the town centre and it would be a really lovely place to stay if it was given a thorough renovation.
The Antrobus Hotel is on Church Street in the town centre and there are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. It is around a 25-minute walk to Woodhenge and around a 1½-hour walk to Stonehenge.Despite being so close to Stonehenge, there is no direct bus service from Amesbury (the only direct bus route is from Salisbury). Stonehenge is only an eight-minute drive away, however, if you’re driving you should be aware that the hotel doesn’t have its own car park so you’ll need to pay to park across the road.
