Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa

The Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa is a four-star country house hotel on the eastern outskirts of Warminster.

The hotel occupies Bishopstrow House, a Grade II-listed late-Georgian-era country house that was converted into a hotel in 1950. Since its conversion into a hotel, it has been expanded from 10 guest rooms to 24 bedrooms plus six suites and two family rooms.

All rooms have comfortable king-size beds, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms with bathrobes, slippers and Elemis toiletries. Most rooms have garden views.

A buffet breakfast is usually included in your room rate and you can pay extra for a full English breakfast.

The hotel’s Mulberry Restaurant is a delightful setting to enjoy lunch or dinner. The menu is centred around modern British cuisine made with seasonal locally-sourced ingredients. Afternoon tea is also available, although it is somewhat pricey.

It is a charming building with public areas that also include a drawing room with an open fireplace and comfortable armchairs and an adjacent library. Both rooms are a lovely place to relax and enjoy a drink or two.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The River Wylye runs through the hotel’s 11ha (27 acres) of grounds, which contain two ancient burial mounds plus a boathouse, two swimming pools (one indoor and the other outdoor) and tennis courts. Tennis rackets and balls can be borrowed from the hotel reception and guests are able to fish for trout in the river.

A gym and spa facilities are also available including a sauna, steam room and spa treatment rooms.

The hotel has a lovely location but there is not a great deal in the immediate neighbourhood. From here, it is around a 25-minute walk to the edge of the town centre. If you’re driving, it is a convenient location for excursions into the surrounding region including trips to Longleat House and Longleat Safari and Adventure Park (both around a 15-minute drive from the hotel), while Stourton, Bradford on Avon and Stonehenge are less than a 25-minute drive away.

Free on-site car parking is available.
