Broad Street Townhouse is a luxury boutique hotel in a Victorian-era townhouse in the centre of Bath. It is a great option if you like to stay somewhere with plenty of character.
The Grade II listed building was built in 1885 and consists of a pub downstairs and accommodation on the three upper floors.
It is a small hotel with only 11 guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a writing desk, a flatscreen television, a DAB digital radio, tea and coffee making facilities (including Dualit espresso machines), ironing facilities and en suite bathrooms. The hotel is furnished to a high standard and it manages to pull off a traditional style decor without looking dated.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Note that the hotel rooms are not air-conditioned, which may be an issue if you’re thinking of staying here during summer.
Considering that the hotel only has 11 rooms, it has relatively extensive amenities that include a cafe downstairs and its own pub. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast at the cafe and guests can also stop into the cafe during the day for free tea or coffee. The cafe transforms into a cocktail bar at night, although the Pig & Fiddle pub downstairs is the place to go for a more traditional drinking experience.
The pub has plenty of character, and although it is run by the same company that operates the hotel, the atmosphere is quite different from the hotel and noise from the pub may be a problem if you’re staying on a Friday or Saturday night. The pub has a warm and cosy atmosphere inside plus a nice outdoor terrace and the food and drink is great.
The Broad Street Townhouse has a great location at the northern end of the city centre and most points of interest in Bath are no more than a 10-minute walk from here.
