Cheval Phoenix House

Cheval Phoenix House is a high-end apartment hotel in a converted townhouse near Sloane Square in the heart of Chelsea in west London.

It has 33 apartments that come in a choice of open-plan apartments as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments. They are all air-conditioned with comfortable king-size beds, a sofa, a flat-screen television, a living area, a kitchen and an en suite bathroom with toiletries from The White Company.

The kitchen features a dishwasher, a fridge, pots, pans and other utensils and tea and coffee making facilities including a Nespresso coffee machine. Although having a kitchen inside your apartment means that you have the flexibility to make your own meals, not all the kitchens are fully equipped with a proper oven. In other words, you can cook pasta but you can’t make a pizza or bake a cake.

There is also a washing machine in each apartment, which is a great option if you’ve been on the road for a week or longer and need to do your laundry.

The apartments are spacious, varying in size from 33m² (359 sq ft) to 75m² (809 sq ft) and some of the open-plan apartments are split over two levels with walk-in wardrobes and two separate toilets.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available in all the apartments.

Like many small apartment hotels, the self-contained nature of the apartments means that there are not a lot of communal facilities outside your apartment. At Cheval Phoenix House, the communal areas are restricted to the small reception area and a small fitness centre in the basement.

Even for London, this can be a pricey place to stay, although it is a nice place and the immediate surroundings are lovely.

It is located just off Sloane Street in the heart of Chelsea, which is one of London’s nicest neighbourhoods. For the most part, this is an upmarket residential area so it is not crawling with tourists like you find in some other parts of central London.

Although there is not a lot in the way of tourist sights in the immediate area, it is only a two-minute walk from Sloane Square and the Peter Jones department store and the up-market neighbourhoods of Belgravia and Knightsbridge are also nearby and it is only a 10-minute walk to the Knightsbridge shopping area, which includes the iconic Harrods and Harvey Nichols department stores.

Sloane Square tube station is a three-minute walk from the hotel. Sloane Square is in zone one and lies between South Kensington and Victoria on the Circle and District lines. From here it is only a five-minute ride to Westminster and 16 minutes to Monument with trains running every two minutes.

Alternatively, it is only a 10-minute walk to Knightsbridge tube station, which is on the Piccadilly line with direct trains to Heathrow airport and Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. From here, it is only a five-minute ride to Piccadilly Circus and 14 minutes to Kings Cross & St Pancras International with trains running every two minutes.
