Delta by Marriott Liverpool City Centre

The Delta by Marriott Liverpool City Centre (formerly the Liverpool Marriott Hotel City Centre) is a good quality hotel with a central location right in the heart of Liverpool city centre. It is a reliable accommodation option that is popular with business travellers.

Delta is a Canadian-based hotel chain that was bought by Marriott in 2015. Although Delta hotels are located primarily in Canada and the northern United States, during 2022 Marriott re-branded around 25 of its UK hotels, including this one, into Delta by Marriott hotels. These hotels generally represent the UK’s older Marriott hotels and they are located in primarily regional locations. These hotels were starting to look a little dated; however, Marriott has confirmed that these re-branded hotels will go through a renovation programme from late 2022 and to late 2023.

The Delta by Marriott Liverpool City Centre hotel’s 146 guest rooms all have comfortable beds, a work desk, ironing facilities (and a trouser press), tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Superior rooms also have separate sitting areas. Some rooms are wheelchair accessible.

The hotel was purpose-built in the 1990s and although the hotel is not much older than 20 years it feels dated. This is somewhat due to the bland corporate decor that is common with many American hotel chains and it probably looked out of date when it first opened for business. Despite looking rather soulless, it is clean and well maintained.

This Marriott can sometimes be quite a good value hotel if you’re visiting Liverpool in the low season. However, it is a lot more expensive in the peak season or if you’re in town during a major event.

The Brew Bar Lounge is the hotel’s on-site restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner and consists of a lounge area and an outdoor terrace. There is also a separate area where a buffet breakfast is served.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available in the bar and lounge area, however, Wi-Fi in the rooms costs an extra £15 per day, although it is free for members of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme (which is free to join).

There is also a health club on the premises that has a fitness centre, a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa treatment rooms.

The hotel is popular with business travellers looking for a reliable accommodation option close to the main railway station. The hotel also has meeting and conference facilities with the largest meeting room holding up to 300 people.

The hotel has a very central location just across the road from St George’s Hall and only a three-minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street railway station. The Liverpool Central Library, the Walker Art Gallery and the World Museum are also just a three-minute walk away. Most other points of interest in the city centre are no more than a 10–15-minute walk from the hotel.

It is very convenient if you’re travelling by train and the hotel also has a car park, which costs £12 per day.
