Dorsett Shepherds Bush

The Dorsett Shepherds Bush Hotel is an upscale hotel in Shepherd’s Bush that can often represent good value for money when compared to similar hotels in Central London.

The hotel is housed inside the former Shepherd’s Bush Pavilion, a Grade II-listed building that was built in the 1920s as a cinema. The building was bombed in the Second World War and operated as a bingo hall in the 1980s. It was renovated and reopened as the Dorsett Shepherds Bush hotel in 2014.

The Dorsett is a larger hotel than you would think and it has 317 guest rooms arranged over eight levels. All rooms are air-conditioned and have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, a minibar and an en suite bathroom. Some of the interior-facing rooms do not have outside views.

Rooms range from 20m² (215 sq ft) to 30m² (323 sq ft) and the hotel’s suites are a little larger at 38m² (409 sq ft) and have separate living and sleeping areas.

Guests staying in executive rooms and suites have access to the Dorsett Lounge, where you can enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks.

Jin, the hotel’s lobby bar, is a nice spot for breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails and Shikumen is the hotel’s excellent Chinese restaurant, which serves dim sum in an elegant environment.

The hotel’s decor has a subtle Chinese influence, which is fitting for one of the Hong Kong-based chain’s few hotels outside Asia.

The hotel also has a 24-hour gym, although the hotel lacks other amenities that you would normally find in a hotel of this standard.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Despite not being right in the heart of London, the Dorsett Shepherds Bush Hotel has a convenient location across the road from Shepherd’s Bush Green with lots of shopping options nearby including the W12 shopping centre and the Westfield London shopping centre (the largest shopping centre in the United Kingdom), which are both a six-minute walk from the hotel.

It has excellent transport connections with Shepherd’s Bush Market tube station (on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines) a three-minute walk from the hotel and Shepherd’s Bush tube station (on the Central line) is an eight-minute walk away. Shepherd’s Bush station is the most useful of these two stations and from here, it is only a 10-minute ride on the tube to get to Oxford Circus with trains running every two minutes.

SheBu (Shepherd’s Bush) is also a convenient part of London to stay in if you’re attending an event at Kensington Olympia, which is just one stop away on the Overground (or a 20-minute walk).

The hotel doesn’t have its own car park but you can park at the nearby Westfield shopping centre for £9.50 per 24-hour period.
