The George Street Hotel is a good central accommodation option in the heart of Oxford’s city centre. Accommodation is of a high standard but there are very few shared facilities in the hotel outside the rooms.
The hotel was opened in June 2017 and it occupies three floors above the TSB Bank on George Street.
It has 41 art deco-style guest bedrooms, each with comfortable Hypnos mattresses, a work desk, a flatscreen television, a mini-fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an en-suite bathroom with underfloor heating and L’Occitaine toiletries. All rooms are air-conditioned and have Wi-Fi wireless internet access. Some of the cheaper rooms do not have windows.
The George Street Hotel does not have its own restaurant or bar but that’s not a problem as there are plenty of places to eat and drink within a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel.
The hotel is located on George Street in central Oxford across the road from Oxford New Theatre and most areas of the city centre are less than a five-minute walk away. The Ashmolean Museum is a four-minute walk, the central tourist area of the University of Oxford (where you can find the Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Camera and the University Church of St Mary the Virgin) is a seven-minute walk from the hotel and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum is a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
It is only a three-minute walk from Gloucester Green bus and coach station and a 10-minute walk to Oxford railway station.
