Holiday Inn Express London-Wimbledon South

The Holiday Inn Express London-Wimbledon South hotel offers a reasonably high standard of accommodation but there are cheaper places to stay elsewhere in London’s suburbs.

The hotel has 156 guest rooms set over three floors. All rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.

There are some wheelchair-accessible rooms, however, the local tube station does not have step-free access so it is not the best neighbourhood to stay in if you use a wheelchair.

The hotel has a lounge area near the ground floor reception area where breakfast (included in your room rate) is served each morning. Drinks and light meals are available from the hotel bar 24-hours a day.

There is free wired internet access in all rooms, but Wi-Fi wireless internet access is only free for IHG One Rewards members. It is free to join the IHG loyalty programme and free Wi-Fi is available to all members, even those on the entry-level tier.

Although it is certainly a cheaper option than staying in Central London, if you’re going to stay this far from the centre of London there are plenty of other hotels that represent much better value.

The immediate neighbourhood around the hotel includes plenty of shops as well as a nice selection of places to eat and drink. There is a nice pub next door called the Charles Holden (named after the architect who designed many of London’s tube stations including Colliers Wood) and it is just a few minutes walk north of a large retail park and a large Sainsburys supermarket.

The hotel is right across the road from Colliers Wood tube station (in zone three) which is on the Northern line. The journey into The City takes around 25 minutes and trains run every couple of minutes.

On-site car parking is available but it costs £20 per day.

Like other Holiday Inn Express hotels, it is a clean modern hotel with a high standard of accommodation but without the extra amenities that you would find in a higher rated hotel. Holiday Inn Express hotels are usually slightly nicer than other hotels catering to the same market, such as ibis, Premier Inn and Travelodge, although Holiday Inn Express also tends to be more expensive than other hotels in the same category.
