Honister Slate Mine and via ferrata

From £17.50 To £45

This Honister Slate Mine is the last remaining slate mine in the United Kingdom. Although it is still a working mine, the attraction for most visitors includes a visitor centre with exhibits about slate mining in Cumbria, underground mine tours and England’s first via ferrata where you are able to use a safety harness to scale a cliff path.

The via ferrata tours are one of the best outdoor experiences in the Lake District and the experience takes between two and three hours. There are options: the shorter classic tour and the more challenging Xtreme tour that is totally worth the extra £5.
