Hotel du Vin Brighton

Brighton’s Hotel du Vin is a small hotel with a lot more character than your average chain hotel. Like other hotels in the Hotel du Vin chain, there is a strong emphasis on food and wine and it has a great location in The Lanes and it is just a short stroll from the beach.

The Hotel du Vin in Brighton is comprised of several buildings in gothic and mock-Tudor styles that, fittingly, was previously used a wine merchant. Parts of the hotel date from the 17th century.

There are 49 rooms and suites in the hotel. Each room has large comfortable beds plus a work desk, a flat screen television, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities including Nespresso coffee machines and a spacious en suite bathroom with a big walk-in monsoon shower. Some of the larger rooms and suites also have roll top baths and all rooms are air-conditioned.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Like other hotels in the Hotel du Vin chain, the emphasis here is on quality food and wine and Bistro du Vin, the hotel’s bar/restaurant, is well regarded.

Bistro du Vin is a French-style bistro with wooden floorboards and big floor-to-ceiling windows and there is also a courtyard with a vine-covered pergola and a private dining area downstairs. There is an extensive wine list (with over 600 different wines) and the food is good value compared with other restaurants of a similar standard. The menu is primarily French classics alongside traditional British dishes and it is noted for its signature Sunday lunch (which you can also get at other branches of Hotel du Vin).

The hotel also has a bar, Pub du Vin, which has a warehouse-style decor with exposed brick walls and a clubby ambience with comfortable leather couches. Afternoon tea is available here and the atmosphere becomes more bar-like later in the evening. The bar has a more casual menu than the restaurant and it has a selection of over 100 different varieties of whisky and rum.

The hotel has a brilliant location in The Lanes and it is just a couple of minutes walk from the beach. Most points of interest in central Brighton are no more than a 10-minute walk from here.
