London Heathrow Marriott

The 393-room London Heathrow Marriott is a high-end hotel on Bath Road north of Heathrow Airport. It is located in the Heathrow Free Travel Zone with easy access to terminals two and three, although the only way to travel between the hotel and the airport is by bus.

It is a modern hotel with a spacious lobby area and the hotel’s decor has a corporate feel, which a lot of the guests seem to appreciate.

Standard rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television with satellite channels, a mini bar, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Executive rooms also include access to the M Club executive lounge with complimentary food and non-alcoholic drinks. Suites also give you access to the lounge but they are more spacious with separate living and sleeping areas. All rooms are air-conditioned.

Around five per cent of the rooms are adapted for guests with disabilities.

Carluccio’s is the hotel restaurant, which is part of the restaurant chain established by the late Italian celebrity chef Antonio Carluccio. The restaurant serves good quality Italian food at reasonable prices which is great for a four-star airport hotel restaurant.

The hotel is one of many airport hotels on Bath Road north of Heathrow Airport. The closest bus stop is around a five-minute walk from the hotel and buses to the airport are frequent enough that you shouldn’t have to wait longer than a few minutes and it shouldn’t take longer than 10–15 minutes to walk to the bus stop and catch a bus to the airport. Press the buzzer when you pass the McDonalds if you’re arriving by bus from the airport.

You can also take the Hotel Hoppa bus to the airport terminal but these are more expensive at £5.50 (£6 if you buy your ticket on board the bus) for a one-way trip and these buses run less frequently than the regular local buses. However, the Hotel Hoppa may be a good option if you are travelling with a lot of luggage as it stops right outside the hotel entrance as opposed to stopping down the road.

There is not a lot of interest in the immediate neighbourhood, which consists mostly of office blocks and other hotels, although there is a McDonalds a couple of doors down the road and restaurants in the neighbouring Radisson Blu Edwardian and Sheraton Skyline hotels if you don’t want to dine at the Marriott.
