The London Marriott Canary Wharf hotel offers a high standard of accommodation in a central location in Canary Wharf in London’s Docklands.
The hotel occupies the lower eight floors of a 33-storey building and levels 9–12 are home to the Marriott Executive Apartments London, Canary Wharf, which has 47 serviced apartments.
The 301 air-conditioned guest rooms and suites all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a chaise longue, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom.
The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that let in lots of natural light, although the view from some of the rooms is not particularly impressive.
Rooms range from 31m² (334 sq ft) to 33m² (355 sq ft). Suites provide more living space and range from 41m² (441 sq ft) to 63m² (678 sq ft).
Although the hotel provides a high standard of accommodation, some people say that the interior decor looks a little dated.
Executive rooms and suites have access to an executive lounge on the seventh floor, where complimentary breakfast, snacks and drinks are served.
The hotel has its own steakhouse, the Manhattan Grill, as well as the G&Tea Room, a tea room/bar that serves both traditional afternoon tea and over 180 different varieties of gin.
The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness centre with a sauna.
Wi-Fi wireless internet access is free in the lobby and public areas but it costs £15 per day in your room.
It is a relatively expensive place to stay considering that it is not in Central London but it does have excellent transport connections and the immediate neighbourhood has plenty of things to keep you busy. Despite being quite pricey, it can be good value if you pay with Marriott Bonvoy points.
The hotel is on the northern side of North Dock, just a three-minute walk from the heart of Canary Wharf. It is right next door to the Museum of London Docklands and there is an excellent choice of places nearby on the waterfront where you can eat and drink.
It is right next to West India Quay DLR station and Canary Wharf tube station is less than a 10-minute walk away. From West India Quay, it takes around nine minutes to get to Bank with trains running every four minutes and from Canary Wharf station, the Jubilee line will take you to Westminster in 11 minutes and Bond Street in 15 minutes with trains running every 2–3 minutes.
