Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel

The hotel has 131 air-conditioned guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities including Nespresso coffee machines and an en suite bathroom with Elemis toiletries.

The historic nature of the building, which dates from the late Georgian and early Victorian eras, means that the rooms have high ceilings and other period features. While somewhat traditional, the interior decor feels contemporary and does not have the dated feel that you find in some other historic hotels.

Vellore, the hotel’s restaurant, is located in a former ballroom and features a menu with a focus on modern British cuisine. It is a lovely spot for afternoon tea, although this is fairly pricey and even the cheaper cream tea is relatively expensive.

The hotel also has extensive spa and fitness facilities including an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor hydro pool, a gym and a thermal suite with Elemis treatments.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The hotel is located in a lovely residential area on the Bathwick side of the River Avon. From here it is a pleasant 15-minute walk into the city centre. Although the hotel is in a nice neighbourhood, there is not a lot of interest in the immediate vicinity around the hotel. The Holburne Museum is around a seven-minute walk from the hotel but you have to walk into the city centre to find a good choice of places to eat and drink.

Car parking is available but it costs £15 per day.
