Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel

The Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel is in a restored Victorian-era warehouse on the banks of the River Irwell near the old Granada film studios.

The hotel mainly caters to business travellers during the week, with wedding parties and couples on weekend breaks staying on weekends. Despite being popular with business travellers, this hotel has more character than the average business hotel partly because a great job was done restoring the old Victorian warehouse to showcase many period features such as brickwork and exposed wooden beams.

The hotel has 129 rooms and 19 suites. All guest bedrooms feature comfortable beds, a television, a mini-fridge, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en-suite bathrooms. There is free Wi-Fi wireless internet access throughout the hotel.

The historic nature of the building means that it has some interesting quirks, like the low ceilings on the third floor. If you’re taller than 180cm (5 ft 11 in) it is best to avoid staying on the third floor, otherwise, you may find yourself bumping your head a lot.

The Riverside Restaurant on the ground floor has a small menu of classic dishes and the adjoining V&A Lounge Bar is a relaxing spot to enjoy a drink with platters of tapas-style bites to share.

Although there is no fitness centre on site, guests have free access to the nearby Bannatyne’s Health Club, which includes a swimming pool.

The hotel has a quiet setting beside the River Irwell. It is very close to the Museum of Science and Industry and the Opera House. Spinningfields is only a five-minute walk from the hotel and the Central Retail District is a 15-minute walk. The closest railway stations are Manchester Deansgate and Salford Central, both a 10-minute walk away; however, it is a 25-minute walk to Manchester Piccadilly station.
