The Ramada by Wyndham Hounslow-Heathrow East hotel represents good value for a London hotel and it is located close to Heathrow Airport with good transport connections into Central London.
The hotel is a five-storey brick building with 96 guest rooms. All rooms have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms.
There are some wheelchair-accessible rooms, however, disabled guests should be aware that there is no lift at the nearby Hounslow Central tube station.
Like many other hotels that are part of American-run chains, it feels dated and tired despite being relatively clean and well maintained.
The hotel has its own bar and restaurant although there are plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
It is good value for a hotel of this standard in the London area, however, the nearby ibis budget and Travelodge hotels would normally be a cheaper accommodation option.
Many people prefer staying in Hounslow rather than the Bath Road hotel strip closer to the airport because it is a proper suburban neighbourhood with real shops, real people and an authentic local character and most people find it easier to take the tube to the airport instead of hopping on a bus.
The hotel is across the road from a Travelodge hotel and the immediate neighbourhood includes plenty of local shops, a small shopping centre and lots of reasonably-priced places to eat and drink. Although there isn’t anything of interest to see in Hounslow, it is possible to walk from the hotel to Twickenham Stadium in a little over half an hour.
The main bonus of the hotel’s location is its proximity to Hounslow Central tube station (on the Piccadilly line), which is only a two-minute walk from the hotel. From here you can get frequent trains to both Central London and Heathrow Airport. The airport is only three stops on the tube and the trip to Heathrow takes 11 minutes. In the other direction, it is easy to get into Central London and the journey to Piccadilly Circus takes around 40 minutes.
Limited on-site car parking is available but this costs an additional £10 per night.
