The Sheraton Heathrow is one of two Sheraton hotels at London Heathrow Airport (the other is the Sheraton Skyline). It is a fairly tired-looking hotel but it is in the Heathrow Free Travel Zone with frequent free bus services to Heathrow Terminals 2, 3 and 5.
It is not a particularly appealing hotel and it has been described as looking a bit like a funeral home. The decor inside is dated and, despite being the newer of the two Heathrow Sheraton hotels, most guests seem to prefer the older one (the Sheraton Skyline on Bath Road), probably because that hotel has nicer public areas including a nice swimming pool area.
In contrast, the public areas of this hotel feel even more dated than the other Sheraton and consist of a lounge area with 1970s-style furniture (I don’t expect that they were trying for the retro look) as well as eerie corridors with random bits of furniture in them.
It is a large sprawling complex with 426 guest rooms and, despite the drawbacks about the public areas of this hotel, the rooms themselves are actually not too bad. They have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. The bathrooms seem more up-to-date than the bedrooms and this probably comes down the outdated choice of furnishings favoured by Sheraton.
The hotel has several in-house restaurants including the Orchard, with a traditional English menu, the Discovery Bar and the Link@Sheraton Cafe, which has light snacks such as pastries, sandwiches and bagels.
There is also a club lounge (with complimentary drinks and snacks) that is available for guests staying in club rooms as well as Platinum Elite (and higher) members of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty programme. However, the lounge is not particularly attractive when compared to club lounges in other hotels.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.
The hotel is on the Colnbrook By-Pass road just north of the Terminal 5 Premier Inn and Thistle hotels. Although there isn’t a lot in the immediate area of the hotel, there is a McDonalds across the road and the location inside the Heathrow Free Travel Zone means that it is free and easy to get to the airport terminals with direct buses to Terminals 2, 3 and 5 stopping outside the hotel.
You can also take the Hotel Hoppa bus to the airport terminal but these cost £5.50 (£6 if you buy your ticket on board the bus) for a one-way trip and these buses run less frequently than the regular free buses. However, the Hotel Hoppa may be a good option if you are travelling with a lot of luggage (or if it’s raining) as it stops right outside the hotel entrance as opposed to stopping down the road.
