Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport

The Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport hotel is a good value accommodation option if you want to stay near the airport, which is around a 20-minute walk away.

The 100-room hotel was formerly a Holiday Inn before being renovated and reopened as a Travelodge in 2018. It is a newly renovated hotel that gets positive reviews from guests and it is generally a step above the average Travelodge hotel.

Rooms at the Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport are a mix of double, twin and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods although in most cases this hotel is a cheaper alternative to more centrally-located hotels.

The Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport hotel has its own bar and cafe. There are also several cafes and restaurants within a five-minute walk (including a Starbucks, Subway and a Toby Carvery if you would rather eat and drink elsewhere. (Photo © Travelodge)

Although farther from the airport than the Premier Inn, there is more of interest in the immediate neighbourhood. There is a big garden centre next door and there are a few places to eat (including a Subway, Starbucks Coffee and a Toby Carvery) within a five-minute walk.

There are several bus stops close to the hotel. Although not the closest bus stop, the stop on Speke Hall Avenue just south of the hotel is probably the most convenient for most guests as this stop is on the main bus route linking the airport with Liverpool South Parkway railway station, where you can change for trains into central Liverpool.

If you’re heading to the airport you can either catch a bus from the bus stop outside Dobbies Garden Centre next door to the hotel (which is much closer than the stop for buses to Liverpool South Parkway station and the city centre) or you can walk the 20 minutes to the airport terminal. It is not the most interesting walk but the route is well signposted and the pavement is wide enough to pull your luggage along.

This hotel has free on-site car parking, which makes it a good option if you’re driving.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
