Travelodge London Central City Road

The Travelodge London Central City Road hotel is an affordable accommodation option, just north of the City of London and less than a 10-minute walk to the heart of Shoreditch.

Rooms at the London Central City Road are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower. There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available. The rooms in this hotel have recently been renovated and now sport Travelodge’s new room decor, which is a big step up from your average Travelodge hotel.

In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are much bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.

This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant, although there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. However, this hotel is one of the better value hotels in central London.

The hotel is located in a vibrant area between Shoreditch and the City of London that has lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby. It is within a 15-minute walk to many attractions in the City of London including the Barbican Centre, Bank of England Museum, Guildhall, the City of London Police Museum, Leadenhall Market, Smithfield Market and the Gherkin. The hotel is also a 10-minute walk to Liverpool Street railway station and Shoreditch, which is London’s main hipster neighbourhood.

It has good public transport connections, located midway between Old Street and Moorgate tube and railway stations, which are both around a five-minute walk from the hotel. Old Street is on the Northern line and Moorgate is on the Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Northern lines and both stations are also served by a suburban rail line that runs up to Finsbury Park via Islington and Arsenal football stadium. Both stations are in zone one.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
