The Travelodge London Central Kings Cross hotel is an affordable accommodation option that is close to transport to other parts of central London. This hotel is considerably closer to Kings Cross and St Pancras railway stations than the other Kings Cross Travelodge hotel.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Central Kings Cross are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.
In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.
There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant and there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.
Because it is an older building, this hotel has more character than the average Travelodge although the minimalist furnishings clash with the building’s period features and it ends up making the place feel cheap. It really seems like a missed opportunity to create a more welcoming space and one imagines that a different hotel company would have handled the renovation much differently.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. In general, this hotel represents good value when compared with other hotels in this part of London.
The location is ideal if you are travelling in or out of London from either Kings Cross or St Pancras railway stations, which are both no more than a five-minute walk away. It is also within walking distance of several other central London attractions including the London Canal Museum, the British Library, the Foundling Museum, Charles Dickens Museum and the Postal Museum, which are all within a 10-minute walk of the hotel.
There are lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby and it is much better located than the other Kings Cross Travelodge hotel.
The hotel is less than a five-minute walk from Kings Cross St Pancras tube station, which has six tube lines plus Thameslink trains so you can get to most areas of central London without changing lines. The Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines all intersect at Kings Cross St Pancras and although not a tube line, Thameslink trains make several stops in central London, which make it a quick route to the City and London Bridge. From Kings Cross St Pancras it takes four minutes to take the tube to Oxford Circus and Thameslink trains will get you to City Thameslink (near St Paul’s Cathedral) in six minutes.
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
