Travelodge London Farringdon

Rooms at the Travelodge London Farringdon are a mix of single, double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.

In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are much bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.

There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.

This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant and there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.

This is a new style Travelodge and it has a nicer bar and restaurant than the average Travelodge hotel.

Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. It is a good value place to stay when compared with other hotels in this part of London.

The hotel is less than a five-minute walk to Clerkenwell’s hip bars, cafes and restaurants. Nearby attractions include the Postal Museum (a four-minute walk from the hotel), Charles Dickens Museum (a seven-minute walk), the Foundling Museum (a 12-minute walk) and the London Canal Museum and the Museum of the Order of St John (both 14 minutes away).

Despite its central London location, it is not particularly well connected by public transport with the nearest tube station around a 12-minute walk away. The closest tube stations are Angel (Northern line), Russell Square (Piccadilly line), Farringdon (Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines plus Thameslink trains) and King Cross St Pancras (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines plus Thameslink trains).

Because the closest tube stations are a fair walk away, many people staying at this Travelodge take the bus. Local bus route 63 stops outside the hotel and runs between Kings Cross and Blackfriars stations every 5–10 minutes with central London stops that include Holborn Circus and City Thameslink station (near St Paul’s Cathedral). When route 63 stops late at night, it is replaced by night bus route N63 which operates a less frequent service throughout the night.

Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
