The Travelodge London Fulham hotel is an affordable place to stay that is only a couple of tube stops away from the museums of South Kensington.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Fulham are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.
In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are much bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.
There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. This hotel is generally cheaper than more centrally-located hotels but there are cheaper Travelodges farther from central London but with better transport connections.
This Travelodge is above an Iceland supermarket on North End Road, at the cheaper end of Fulham. The surrounding area is not nearly as nice as neighbouring Chelsea and Kensington but the neighbourhood gets more upmarket when you get closer to Fulham Broadway. The hotel is on a busy shopping street so there are plenty of shops and places to eat and drink nearby.
The hotel is around a 12-minute walk to Stamford Bridge stadium and you can walk into Earls Court in around 20 minutes.
It is only an eight-minute walk to Fulham Broadway tube station (in zone two) and only a couple of minutes more to West Brompton station (also in zone two). Both stations are on the District line and West Brompton station also has Overground trains. Although West Brompton is closer to central London and has more trains, most guests use Fulham Broadway station as it is slightly closer and a nicer walk. There are trains every five minutes, half of them going via High Street Kensington and the other half going via South Kensington and the trip to South Kensington takes around eight minutes.
You can also catch the northbound bus route 28 which will stop outside West Kensington, Kensington Olympia, High Street Kensington and Notting Hill Gate tube stations. The bus runs every 8–12 minutes.
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
