The Travelodge London Greenwich High Road hotel is one of the better-located hotels in Greenwich. It is only a couple of minutes’ walk to Greenwich station (with frequent trains into central London) and the centre of Greenwich is only a 10-minute walk away. It is a good value place to stay in a better location than other hotels in the same price range.
Travelodge London Greenwich High Road has recently been updated to feature Travelodge’s new interior design, which makes this hotel a step above the average Travelodge.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Greenwich High Road are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.
There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant but there are also several places to eat nearby.
Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods although in most cases this hotel is a cheaper alternative to more centrally-located hotels.
The location on Greenwich High Road is excellent for transport connections into central London and all the attractions of Greenwich are within walking distance. It is around a 10-minute walk to the main centre of Greenwich with all its shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs as well as the Greenwich Market and tourist attractions such as Cutty Sark, the Fan Museum, National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House and Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
Greenwich station (in zones two and three) is only a two-minute walk from the hotel and has 12 DLR trains per hour to Bank via Canary Wharf and six suburban trains per hour to London Bridge (with four continuing to Cannon Street and two continuing to St Pancras via City Thameslink). Suburban trains only take around 15 minutes to get into central London but the DLR trains are slower and take 22 minutes.
Greenwich is a good spot to base yourself as you’re far enough from central London to get cheaper accommodation but it is an interesting neighbourhood with its own attractions and it has excellent public transport that will get you into the heart of London in only 15 minutes.
Because of its proximity to Greenwich station, this hotel is a more convenient option than the other Greenwich Travelodge.
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
