The Travelodge London Vauxhall hotel is an affordable hotel next to Vauxhall station on the southwestern edge of central London. The hotel is close to the Tate Britain gallery and is around a 25-minute walk to the attractions in Westminster.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Vauxhall are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower. There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
This hotel has been recently renovated with Travelodge’s new room design, which means that this hotel offers a superior standard of accommodation when compared with most other Travelodge hotels.
In addition to standard rooms, this hotel also has SuperRooms, which are a bit like a premium economy room aimed at business travellers that don’t have the budget for a traditional business hotel. These rooms cost more and are bigger with a larger desk, more power points, a better shower and a Lavazza coffee pod machine.
This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant and there are also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby.
It also has air-conditioning, which is not very common for hotels in this price range.
Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods. It is one of the more affordable hotels in central London.
The hotel is right next to Vauxhall station, there is a Little Waitrose supermarket downstairs and there are plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs within a short walk of the hotel. Nearby attractions include the Beefeater gin distillery and Tate Britain art gallery (both a 12-minute walk from the hotel) and the attractions near Westminster and Waterloo station are around a 25-minute walk or a short bus ride away.
Vauxhall station has tube services (on the Victoria line) as well suburban rail services with 26 trains each hour to London Waterloo plus direct trains to Hampton Court (for Hampton Court Palace) and Windsor and Eton Riverside (for Windsor Castle). There are up to 36 tube trains each hour on the Victoria line (around one train every two minutes). Trains to London Waterloo take as little as six minutes and it takes seven minutes to take the tube to Oxford Circus. Vauxhall station straddles zones one and two.
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
