The Travelodge London Woolwich hotel is a good value hotel in Woolwich in London’s eastern suburbs. It is close to London City Airport and has good transport connections to central London.
Rooms at the Travelodge London Woolwich are a mix of double and family rooms. All rooms include comfortable king-size beds, a television, a work desk, tea and coffee making facilities and an en suite bathroom with a shower.
There are also some wheelchair-accessible rooms available.
This hotel also has a small bar and restaurant but there are also plenty of places to eat nearby.
Unlike most other hotels, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.
Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be more expensive staying here during peak periods although in most cases this hotel is a cheaper alternative to more centrally-located hotels.
The Travelodge is in the centre of Woolwich are there are lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs within a short walk from the hotel. It is also close to Woolwich railway station and Woolwich Arsenal DLR and railway station (both in zone four) and Woolwich Dockyard railway station (in zone three) is also within walking distance.
Of the three stations, most people staying at this Travelodge find Woolwich and Woolwich Arsenal the most convenient. Woolwich Arsenel is slightly closer to the hotel than the other two and is served by both DLR and regular suburban rail services with frequent services into central London and Woolwich railway station is served by Elizabeth line trains to central London. From Woolwich Arsenal, there are 12 DLR services per hour (six to Bank in The City and six to Stratford International) plus eight regular train services per hour into central London (four to London Cannon Street, two to Charing Cross and two Thameslink services to London Bridge and St Pancras). Woolwich railway station is served by eight Elizabeth line trains per hour to central London via Canary Wharf with four of these continuing to Heathrow Airport.
Woolwich Dockyard is in zone three, which makes it a cheaper option for travel into central London. However, with six trains per hour (four to London Cannon Street and two to Charing Cross) rail service into central London is not as frequent as travelling from Woolwich or Woolwich Arsenal stations.
Regardless of which station (or type of train) you take, the journey into central London should take around half an hour.
The location is also handy to London City Airport as it is only two stops on the DLR with trains every five minutes and a journey time of around five minutes from Woolwich Arsenal.
There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
