The Travelodge Reading Central hotel is a budget hotel with a great location close to the heart of Reading.

This hotel also has Standard Room Plus rooms, which are a small upgrade over standard rooms and include a pod espresso coffee machine. These rooms are also located on the hotel’s quietest floor and include free Wi-Fi internet access.

Although the rooms here are quite nice, the facilities at the hotel are relatively basic. There is no air-conditioning and outside the rooms, there is very little in the way of guest amenities.

This particular hotel gets mixed reviews from guests. Generally, people love the value for money for the central location but some guests report that some rooms tend to be a little shabby (it is one of the older Travelodge hotels).

Unlike most other hotels in Reading, only your first 30 minutes of Wi-Fi wireless internet is free. If you need more internet you have to pay £3 for 24 hours.

Although this is a budget hotel, prices can fluctuate depending on demand and it can be much more expensive staying here during peak periods.

The Travelodge is at the western edge of the town centre close directly across the road from the Penta Hotel and close to the Broad Street Mall. Most points of interest in central Reading, including The Oracle shopping centre, the River Kennett and Reading railway station, are all within a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

There are over 500 Travelodge hotels in the United Kingdom. Travelodges in Great Britain, Ireland and Spain are a separate business to the Travelodge hotels that operate in Canada and the USA (which are run by Wyndham) and the Travelodge hotel chain in Australia and New Zealand (which is part of TFE Hotels). Although all Travelodge hotels worldwide serve the same ‘quality budget’ end of the market, if you’re used to Travelodge hotels in Australia, New Zealand or North America their hotels in the UK may be a little different to what you are used to.
