Victoria Warehouse Hotel

It is a quirky hotel set in a renovated warehouse and unlike many budget hotels, this hotel has loads of character, although it is a place that won’t appeal to everyone.

There are several reasons why this place is so cheap including the location, the tiny rooms, the appearance that the warehouse conversion was done on a budget and the fact that many of the hotel rooms don’t have windows.

The hotel is a fairly small part of a larger event space and there are only 34 guest rooms. Although many of the rooms don’t have windows, they are clean and functional with a small flatscreen television, free Wi-Fi wireless internet and en-suite bathrooms. Rooms are very small, the smallest rooms are eight square metres (86 sq ft) and the largest is not much bigger at only 12m² (129 sq ft). The furnishings look cheap too and the bathroom fittings are more like what you would expect in a student flat rather than a hotel.

The Victoria Warehouse complex includes bars, restaurants and spaces for events like conferences, trade shows and weddings. Some of the event spaces are massive, hosting functions of up to 5,000 people, meaning that hotel guests can feel a little overwhelmed. This also means that it can get noisy when there is a big event on.

The whole place has a raw industrial feel and the hotel lobby has a great atmosphere with an eclectic hipster vibe with lots of seating and there is a small cinema room where you can watch films on a big screen. The common areas near the hotel reception have a welcoming social feel and this area has an ambiance a lot like some hostels, which is a welcome change from the bland feel of some budget hotels.

Although there are some reasonably nice areas within a short walk from the hotel, the immediate surroundings look a bit grim with the hotel surrounded by busy roads and depressing-looking warehouses.

Despite its suburban location, there are several points of interest within walking distance including Old Trafford football stadium, less than a 10-minute walk, and IWM North and The Lowry are both a 15-minute walk away. It is a five-minute walk to Wharfside and Pomona Metrolink tram stops.
