YHA Cheddar

YHA Cheddar is a good value accommodation option for backpackers and budget travellers who don’t mind YHA’s communal accommodation arrangements.

The youth hostel is a charming Victorian stone house with accommodation in 18 rooms, which are split between 2–6-bed private rooms plus a couple of six-bed dormitories. Some of the rooms are wheelchair accessible.

Shared facilities include a lounge, a self-catering kitchen and a small bar.

YHA Cheddar has a nice atmosphere and it’s a great spot both for families and single travellers.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hostel.

The hostel is on a quiet residential street. While this is not as convenient as staying in the centre of the village, it is a much more pleasant location that gives you a taste of the real Cheddar away from the cluster of touristy shops near the gorge.

From here it is around a six-minute walk to the historic village centre and around a 12–15-minute walk to the cluster of touristy businesses near the gorge.

Limited free parking is available in the hostel’s small car park.
