DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London ExCeL

Formerly known as the Ramada Hotel & Suites London Docklands, this DoubleTree hotel offers a high standard of accommodation and it is a popular option with business travellers visiting London to attend an event at ExCeL.

The 287 hotel rooms are all air-conditioned with comfortable beds, a work desk, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Deluxe rooms are a little larger at 24m² (258 sq ft), compared with the 21m² (195 sq ft) standard rooms. Several of the queen rooms are wheelchair accessible.

The hotel’s dining options include Bidder & Co, the hotel’s lounge bar, and the Salt Port Restaurant and Deli, which serves British and European cuisine in a spacious area with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Guests have access to the hotel’s gym, although the gym is a lot smaller than you would expect for a hotel of this standard.

Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The hotel is only a five-minute walk from the ExCeL exhibition and convention centre and around a 15-minute walk from the terminal building at London City Airport. It is part of a cluster of hotels near ExCeL (which also include a Travelodge, a Hampton by Hilton, a Holiday Inn Express, a Moxy, the Aloft London ExCeL and a Premier Inn).

The immediate neighbourhood feels barren and charmless with modern hotels surrounded by car parking; however, it is probably one of the better-located hotels near ExCeL as it is only a two-minute walk to the Fox @ Connaught pub, which is the only building in the area to have any character.

It is a six-minute walk from Prince Regent DLR station, which is around a 20-minute ride from The City with trains running every eight minutes or so.
