Dukes Hotel Bath is an upmarket boutique hotel housed in two adjoining Georgian townhouses just off Great Pulteney Street. The hotel is furnished in a manner that highlights the character of the Grade I-listed 18th-century townhouse, which makes it a charming place to stay with a lot more atmosphere than your average chain hotel.
It is a small hotel with only 17 guest rooms, which all have comfortable beds, a flatscreen television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Rooms vary from a compact 13m² (140 sq ft) to a more spacious 27m² (290 sq ft).
The hotel has a small bar and there is also a small courtyard where you can sit and relax. A full breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the first floor.
Although one of the ground-floor rooms is partially adapted for disabled guests, the building doesn’t have a lift and there isn’t any wheelchair access to the breakfast room.
Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout most parts of the hotel. However, some of the rooms have limited Wi-Fi access so it is best to check with the hotel first to ensure the availability of a room with good Wi-Fi access if internet access is important to you.
The hotel is on Great Pulteney Street (although the entrance is on Edward Street), which is considered to be Bath’s most elegant example of Georgian architecture. Apart from the hotel’s bar and the cafe at the Holburne Museum, there is not a big choice of places to eat and drink nearby and the closest pub (the Pulteney Arms) is a three-minute walk from the hotel. It is a relatively quiet area and, although not as centrally located as many other hotels in Bath, it is still within easy walking distance to most points of interest. From here it is only a two-minute walk to the Holburne Museum and a five-minute walk to Pulteney Bridge and most attractions in Bath are no more than a 15-minute walk away.
