The Holiday Inn Express London Limehouse hotel can sometimes be a good value accommodation option and it is very close to The City of London, although the immediate neighbourhood around the hotel is not particularly attractive.
It is a modern hotel with 150 rooms on seven floors. The rooms all have comfortable beds, a work desk, a flat-screen TV, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms. Six of the rooms are wheelchair accessible.
An Express Start buffet breakfast (included in your room rate) is served in the dining area on the ground floor. Guests can also relax with a drink in the hotel’s lobby bar.
There is free wired internet access in all rooms, but Wi-Fi wireless internet access is only free for IHG Rewards members. It is free to join the IHG loyalty programme and free Wi-Fi is available to all members of the programme, even those on the entry-level tier.
The hotel is located on The Highway, a busy road linking The City with the Docklands. Although the immediate neighbourhood may not look particularly inviting, it is only a two-minute walk to the Thames Path which you can follow to get to Wapping or Canary Wharf.
It is also well connected to public transport with Limehouse station only a six-minute walk away followed by a 6–7-minute ride into The City. Limehouse station has eight trains per hour to Fenchurch Street, six trains per hour to Tower Gateway and 15 trains per hour to Bank.
Parking is available but it costs £15 per day.
